SUNY Polytechnic Institute, commonly known as SUNY Poly, is a public institution located in Utica, New York, that specializes in studies of technology and applied sciences. Established in 1966, as a member of the State University of New York (SUNY) system, the Utica campus offers a suburban setting approximately 90 miles from Syracuse, providing students with a blend of small-town comfort and access to urban conveniences. Academically, SUNY Poly is notable for its programs in nanoscience and engineering, as well as offerings in computing, engineering technology, and the sciences. Application to SUNY Poly is considered moderately selective. Housing is available on campus, giving students the option to live in residence halls while enjoying the institute?s modern facilities. While SUNY Poly may not be particularly well-known for its athletic programs, it does compete in Division III sports as the SUNY Poly Wildcats.
