Doane University is located in Crete, Nebraska, approximately 30 miles southwest of Lincoln. Established in 1872 as Doane College by the United Church of Christ, the institution occupies a 300-acre residential campus characterized by historic red-brick buildings and modern academic facilities. The private liberal arts university maintains its religious affiliation while serving students of all backgrounds, offering undergraduate programs across five colleges with strengths in science, education, and business. The main campus in Crete operates as a traditional residential college with required on-campus housing for first-year students, while Doane also maintains additional locations in Lincoln, Omaha, and Grand Island for adult and graduate education. As a member of the Great Plains Athletic Conference, Doane's athletic teams compete in the NAIA as the Tigers.
