Tufts University, located in Medford, Massachusetts, is a private research institution established in 1852. Situated on a hilltop just five miles from downtown Boston, the campus offers a mix of classic collegiate gothic architecture and modern facilities. Tufts is recognized for sound academic rigor and a highly selective admissions process. The university provides a liberal arts curriculum with a notable emphasis on international relations and engineering, housing the highly regarded Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and the School of Engineering. Undergraduate housing is guaranteed for all four years, with a majority of students choosing to live on campus, fostering a close-knit residential experience. Although Tufts competes in NCAA Division III athletics, it is not particularly distinguished for its sports programs; its focus remains academically centered.
