Overview

University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC), formerly known as University of Maryland University College until its rebranding in 2019, is a public university located in Adelphi, Maryland, just a short drive from the nation's capital, Washington, D.C. Founded in 1947, UMGC specializes in online education and evening classes designed to cater to non-traditional students and active-duty military personnel. The university's campus setting is largely virtual, with a distinctive focus on adult education and distance learning, though there are facilities for administrative purposes and some hybrid courses. UMGC offers a broad array of undergraduate and graduate programs with particular strengths in cybersecurity, business administration, and information technology. The institution is known for its open admissions policy, accommodating a diverse student body with varying educational backgrounds. University of Maryland University College has an open admission policy which permits enrollment by any high school graduate or GED holding student.  10,160 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 45,678 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $7,488 plus fees of $360.
