Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) is a historically Black public university located in the Pontchartrain Park neighborhood of New Orleans, Louisiana, approximately 15 minutes from the French Quarter. The campus, established in 1959 as part of the Southern University System, sits on a 17-acre lakefront property featuring modern academic buildings rebuilt following extensive damage from Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The university maintains partnerships with local organizations and agencies to provide hands-on training opportunities for students, particularly in its social work and criminal justice programs.
