Knox College, founded in 1837 and located in Galesburg, Illinois, is a private liberal arts institution known for its distinctive academic environment and historic campus. Situated approximately 45 miles from the Quad Cities and about 200 miles southwest of Chicago, Knox offers a diverse range of undergraduate programs with a notable emphasis on creative writing, environmental studies, and social sciences. Architecturally significant, the campus features Old Main, a National Historic Landmark, which is the only remaining site of the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates. With a moderately selective admissions process, the college seeks to enroll students who demonstrate strong intellectual potential and a commitment to the school's values. Knox provides on-campus housing options, contributing to a close-knit residential experience for its student body. While Knox supports a variety of NCAA Division III athletic teams, known as the Prairie Fire, it is primarily recognized for its academic strengths rather than its athletic achievements.
