Knox College, located in Galesburg, Illinois, approximately 180 miles southwest of Chicago, occupies a historic campus known for its red brick architecture and tree-lined grounds. Founded in 1837 by abolitionists and social reformers, Knox was among the first colleges in the United States to admit both women and people of color. The liberal arts institution maintains selective admission standards and offers distinctive academic programs in creative writing, environmental studies, and immersive research opportunities through its Green Oaks Biological Field Station. The college requires students to live on campus for their first three years, housing them in traditional residence halls and themed housing communities, while its NCAA Division III athletic programs compete in the Midwest Conference as the Prairie Fire.
