Florida Gateway College is a public institution located in Lake City, Florida, approximately 60 miles west of Jacksonville and 50 miles north of Gainesville. Situated on a 132-acre suburban campus, the college primarily serves students from a five-county district in North Central Florida. Originally established in 1947 as Forest Ranger School, FGC has evolved into a comprehensive state college offering both associate degrees and select bachelor's programs. The institution maintains strong programs in nursing, business administration, and water resources management, while also featuring specialized training in law enforcement and corrections through its Criminal Justice Training Center. Students can access on-campus housing at The Foundation Residence Hall, which opened in 2020 to accommodate both local and out-of-area students.
