If you are a student, former student, faculty member or parent, please help guide other prospective students by sharing your personal experiences at this college. What is it really like to go to Colorado Northwestern Community College?
Current Student in the aviation program, decided to stay for the summer since we were ?going to get more flight time..? Nothing the school say is factual(I haven?t flown in over a month), food is impressively bad, housing sucks the A/C doesn?t work, showers are broken half the time, faculty doesn?t not care about you what so ever and would answer calls/emails nor does the school listen to students feeback. The only good thing I?d say is the close nit community and bonds you will form with other students. The town of Rangley isnt the worst if you like small town living. Just know it is full of alcoholics. Hiking and going to the lake is about the only thing you can do, since the school doesn?t put any activities together.

CNCC is not the school they try to act like they are. The administration doesn't care about the students and are not there for their disabled students. Make sure you understand what you need for your degree, if you don't the admin will put you in classes you don't need. If it wasn't for 80% of the teachers work hard, while being miss treated by admin. There was hope when a new president was hired but the college is not on a good path and good teachers are leaving.

If you want to pursue a career as a pilot DO NOT attend this school. There?s a review from 3 years ago about the aviation program and nothing has changed in 2020/2021. You will be here far longer than the two years. No one is concerned about your flying or how often you need to fly. You will have no support or direction. The school and the program do not communicate in the slightest. They also do not care very much about your school schedule as they will schedule flights right before your class which usually makes you late. They planes are old so they are constantly broken and if you are in the beginning of your program you will be on the bottom of the list as to who gets to fly with the one plane that is not broken. It is better you either go to a private flight school or an actual university that will insure you finish.

I only gave the academics/professors 5/5 because the program I was in (National Park Ranger Academy) is 1 of only 5 in the country. The housing is terrible, the food is terrible. You can tell the town of Rangely use to be great, but it has declined a lot. It?s still not the worst town I?ve been to. The next actual town is an hour away.

Having worked as a faculty member for a year (2017/2018 school year) in the aviation program I have a bit more insight. If you or your children are interested in pursuing a career in aviation please do not be duped into the ?more affordable? cost of CNCC. I can tell you from first hand experience the way the program is being ran, it doesn?t save you any money, in fact it will cost you more. On average students finally complete the program in 3-4 years instead of 2. Why? Good question. First if you google ?how flight schools steal your money?, or something similar to that you find one of the number one things is old aircraft.yes CNCC owns all of the 12 planes it advertises, however none are newer than 1981. The avionics are different in every plane so every lesson the student is having to learn different avionics. Old planes equal maintenance. The problem here is required mantinance inspections aren scheduled for efficient operations. Quite often all of the 172?s come due for inspectio

Rangely location: Really look into this school ask current students what they think -I would never send my kids here - My son lost 20lbs because the food was so bad - moldy - just plain sick. Teachers are terrible can not even understand what they write on white board - Problems are not addressed just pushed under the carpet - non working water fountains - bad WiFi - how are they supposed to study - Sports programs are terrible. No training coaches. - Do your research......
