Laney College is a public community college located in downtown Oakland, California, adjacent to Lake Merritt and approximately 8 miles east of San Francisco. The urban campus consists of modern concrete buildings constructed in the 1970s and includes the region's largest community college swimming facility. As part of the Peralta Community College District, Laney offers more than 100 associate degree and certificate programs, with particular strengths in career technical education, including notable programs in culinary arts, carpentry, and machine technology.
