Berkeley City College (BCC), one of the California community colleges, is located in the urban setting of downtown Berkeley, within walking distance to the University of California, Berkeley. Founded in 1974 as Vista Community College and later renamed in 2006, BCC offers two-year associate degrees, certificates, and transfer programs to four-year institutions. Characterized by its diverse student body and commitment to inclusivity, BCC operates with an open admissions policy, welcoming a broad range of applicants. While the college does not provide on-campus housing, its urban locale affords students access to the vibrant life and resources of Berkeley and proximity to San Francisco.
