Lyon College, located in Batesville, Arkansas, approximately 90 miles northeast of Little Rock, is a private liberal arts institution affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA). The 136-acre campus features Collegiate Gothic architecture nestled in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains, with most academic buildings centered around a main quadrangle. Founded in 1872 as Arkansas College, the institution adopted its current name in 1994 to honor former board chairman Frank Lyon Sr. The college maintains selective admission standards and is known for its pre-professional programs in medicine, dentistry, and veterinary medicine, along with strong offerings in the sciences and humanities. Students are required to live on campus for their first three years, and the college competes in NAIA athletics as the Scots.
