Does Kansas University require writing scores on the ACT?

I'm taking the ACT soon and wondering if Kansas University requires the writing section. I'll need to focus more on it if it's needed for applications.

KU

The University of Kansas (KU) does not require the ACT writing section for admission. You can submit your ACT scores without completing the optional writing portion, and this will not impact your application or admission chances. The university focuses on your composite ACT score, which includes only the required sections: English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science.

When preparing for your ACT, you can concentrate your study efforts on these four main sections that make up your composite score. For Fall 2024 admission at KU, you'll need a minimum ACT composite score of 21, or rank in the top third of your high school class. If you're interested in certain competitive programs or scholarships at KU, higher ACT scores might be beneficial, but the writing section still isn't necessary.

Keep in mind that while KU doesn't require the ACT writing section, some other colleges might. If you're applying to multiple schools, check each institution's specific requirements. You can always take the writing section if other schools on your list require it, but for KU applications, you can skip this optional component and focus your preparation on the four core sections that actually count toward your composite score.
