How Competitive is UCLA Early Decision?

I'm thinking about applying to UCLA under early decision, but I'm not sure how competitive it is compared to regular admission. Does anyone know what the acceptance rate is like for early decision? Also, is there any advantage in applying early if UCLA is my top choice?

UCLA does not offer Early Decision or Early Action programs. The University of California system, including UCLA, only accepts applications during their regular admission window from November 1-30 for freshman admission consideration for the following fall term.

UCLA is highly competitive with an overall acceptance rate of approximately 8.6% for the most recent admissions cycle. The university reviews all applications during the same timeframe, typically releasing decisions in late March. Your application will be considered alongside all other candidates through their comprehensive review process, which evaluates academic achievement, extracurricular activities, personal insights, and other factors.

If UCLA is your top choice, focus on submitting the strongest possible application during the regular admission period. Start your application early within the November window to avoid technical issues or last-minute rushes. The UC application allows you to apply to multiple UC campuses using the same form, so you might consider applying to several UC schools to increase your opportunities for admission within the system.

To strengthen your application for UCLA, concentrate on maintaining excellent grades in challenging courses, crafting compelling responses to the Personal Insight Questions, and highlighting your unique contributions and achievements. Remember that UCLA seeks students who will contribute to their diverse campus community while demonstrating strong academic potential and leadership qualities.
