I'm planning to apply to Florida State University, but I'm not sure about their test optional policy. Can I choose whether to submit my SAT or ACT scores, or do they still require them for all applicants? Has anyone gone through this process recently and can share their experience?

Florida State University does not have a test-optional policy. FSU requires all first-year applicants to submit either SAT or ACT test scores as part of their application process. This requirement applies to both in-state and out-of-state students seeking admission to the university.
When applying to FSU, you must submit official test scores directly from the testing agency. The university will consider your highest section scores from all test attempts, using what's often called "superscoring." This means FSU will take your highest Math score and highest Evidence-Based Reading and Writing score from different SAT test dates, or the highest individual subsections from different ACT test dates, to create your best possible composite score.
For Fall 2024 admission, FSU typically looks for SAT scores around 1200-1340 and ACT scores between 26-30 for the middle 50% of admitted students. However, remember that test scores are just one component of your application. The university also carefully considers your high school GPA, the rigor of your coursework, and your overall academic achievements when making admission decisions.
If you're concerned about your test scores, focus on other aspects of your application while preparing to retake the tests if needed. FSU accepts scores from tests taken through January for regular decision applicants, giving you additional opportunities to achieve your target score. You can also strengthen your application through a compelling personal essay and demonstrated involvement in extracurricular activities.
